When I was seven years old, I won a variety competition and that began my love of music, and my passion for the arts.  Before that, I have heart-warming memories of being awakened by music as a child. My alarm clock would be Rogers & Hammerstein, the Sound of Music and other recordings.  I became fascinated with music at the North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. C.W. Newsome. There are warm heartfelt memories of the sights and sounds of the choir, the music: the lyrics spoke to me, they were healing, soothing and seemed to bring joy to everyone listening. Whether it was singing, directing choirs, on a theatrical stage, playing flute or piano or spinning records on the radio, it all fueled my passion for the arts.

The idea of Symphony Enterprises materialized in 1994.  Since then, Symphony has grown from a booking agency that assisted speakers with appearances, scheduling and travel into a production company and music education entity that educates all ages about the African American experience and its various genres of music from field hollers of the enslaved to Jazz, Broadway, and more through theatrical performance.

Although organization is a love and natural gift, I developed it through critical, extensive professional studies.  I hold a Bachelors of Arts in Management from the Union Institute and University, Cincinnati, OH; Associate Degree, Laney College, Oakland, CA. Continuing education at Jackson Statue University, Jackson, MS; along with various professional certifications to include; UCLA, John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management; San Francisco State University; City of El Cerrito Entrepreneurs Training Program and the Convention Industry Council now known as the Events Industry Council.

My love for event planning blossomed while helping to plan several large family reunions, themed brown bag events, milestone celebrations and other events while working for Bank of America and Wells Fargo’s Team Member Networks.  It has been said that I can organize a chaotic situation and bring calm and order. I am also a crisis intervention specialist because I can, on a moment’s notice, visualize a workable compromising outcome.

Just as petals together on a flower make a beautiful bloom, instruments together in an orchestra create a beautiful symphony and that’s what we strive to do; bring each of the instruments of this company together to create a symphony.
